Burgundy Willow Myrtle / Burgundy Weeping Peppermint / WA Peppermint

Botanical Name: Agonis flexuosa 'Burgundy'
Family: Myrtaceae
Origin: Western Australia
Plant Type: Evergreen shrub (compact, weeping habit)

Overview

Agonis flexuosa ‘Burgundy’ is a graceful, compact peppermint tree selection with arching, weeping stems and burgundy-tinged new growth (tints deepen in cooler weather). The aromatic foliage releases a peppermint scent when brushed or crushed. Small white flowers appear in spring–early summer, attracting pollinators. Ideal for hedging, borders or a feature in SA gardens; thrives in full sun to part shade and well-drained soil, including coastal sites.

Key Features

  • Seasonal Interest: Year-round structure with colourful new growth and spring bloom
  • Wildlife Value: Nectar for pollinators; shelter for small birds
